Welcome to the website of the ACT Children & Young People Commissioner (CYPC)

Alasdair RoyThe ACT Children & Young People Commissioner (CYPC) is one of three Commissioners within the ACT Human Rights Commission.

The current Commissioner is Alasdair Roy, who is assisted by one full-time Senior Adviser.

The CYPC is an independent statutory office created under the Human Rights Commission Act 2005This means that the CYPC is funded by the ACT Government, but is independent from the Government.

The CYPC has a number of roles, including:

  • Consulting with children and young people
  • Resolving complaints and concerns about services for children & young people
  • Providing advice to government and community organisations about how to improve services for children and young people

Put simply, the role of the CYPC is to help make Canberra a better place for children and young people.

The CYPC is open between 9.00am - 5.00pm, Monday to Friday.
