Monitoring and Regulation

Where do I go to raise concerns about an organisation or its staff?

Whether you are a parent/carer, a staff member or volunteer providing services to children and young people, or a kid, teen or young person yourself, you can play an important role in upholding the Child Safe Standards and improving the safety and wellbeing of all children and young people. You do this by working with your organisation to implement the Standards and acting in ways that help to make improvements.

Providing feedback or raising concerns in your organisation is an important step that helps organisations to review what is working and where further improvements can be made. As part of your organisation’s implementation, there should be policies that explain how feedback and concerns are managed.

If, after raising issues within your organisation, you still have concerns, you can contact the relevant sector regulator to seek advice. You can also contact the CYPC if you want more information about your options.

The sector regulators in the ACT are:

HRC Child Safe Standards Statement of Commitment

We are committed to protecting and promoting the rights, safety, and wellbeing of children and young people. We are actively implementing the 10 Child Safe Standards in a way that is culturally safe and inclusive for all children and young people, including by respecting and valuing the diverse and unique identities and experiences of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander children and young people, and their families.

We take a zero-tolerance approach to child abuse, and will seek to ensure all employees, volunteers, contracted staff, and executives uphold their responsibilities.
