The ACT Human Rights Commission extends its profound sympathy to the families in mourning following Sunday’s violent attack at a Hannukah celebration in Bondi, and also extends its sympathies to the Jewish community in Sydney, in Canberra and around the country.
The Commission reaffirms its commitment to countering anti-Semitism and violent extremism.
Our thoughts are also with the first responders and all innocent people who witnessed or who were caught up in this act of terror.
We echo the calls of many others in reaffirming our commitment to an Australia where Jewish people, and people of all faiths, can worship, celebrate and express themselves without fear.
The ACT Government has set up an online condolence book for members of the ACT community wanting to send a message of support, and a physical condolence book is in the Legislative Assembly, via the public entrance.
If people see or experience anti-Semitism, hate or vilification in the ACT, they can contact the Commission to discuss making a complaint, make a complaint online via our website or get advice about options to address their concerns.
