Get parenting support

Having online and written resources can be great, but sometimes talking to someone is the best option. Here is a list of places where parents and carers can get in-person, or over-the-phone, advice and support.

Child and Family Centres

Child and Family Centres have services for parents and carers of children up to age 8, and some for those of children up to 12 years old. You can also get support before and after birth. The centres offer parenting support, child development assessments and referrals to other services. They have three locations in the ACT – Tuggeranong, West Belconnen, and Gungahlin.

Child Development Service & Drop‑in Clinics

If you are worried about your child’s development you can speak with allied health professionals (e.g. speech pathologists, occupational therapists, etc) about your child’s development and get advice and referrals.

Early Parenting Counselling

Counsellors are able to help with a range of parenting issues, including advice about positive parenting. Appointments can be arranged at the Child and Family Centres in Tuggeranong, West Belconnen, and Gungahlin.

Marymead CatholicCare

Marymead offers counselling and group programs to build parenting skills, strengthen relationships, and support children’s emotional development.

Parentline ACT
