Charter of rights for victims of crime
In the ACT, there is a Charter of Rights for Victims of Crime to protect and promote your rights in the criminal justice system. These rights are contained in the Victims of Crime Act 1994 and commenced in January 2021.
As a victim of crime, you also have human rights. The Human Rights Act 2004 protects your human rights when you engage with government organisations, including justice agencies.
See your rights as a victim for information about your specific rights and ways to raise a concern or complaint.
